FAQ | Volo Museum (2024)

Q: Is the museum indoors?

A: Yes. There are several heated / air conditioned buildings that sprawl out over 2 city blocks that contain all of our exhibits. There are short walks between buildings. We have several groomed outdoor park areas that are open for relaxation and play during favorable weather.

Q: Is the museum handicap accessible?

A: The majority of the Museum is wheelchair-accessible, however due to the historic nature of the property and some of our exhibits, there are a few areas that could be either challenging or inaccessible. We do have handicap restrooms located throughout but not all of the restrooms are handicap.

Q: Do you rent wheelchairs?

A: We do have a limited number of wheelchairs and mobility scooters available for rent. Standard wheelchair rental is $10 and mobility scooters are $50 for the day. Wheelchairs and scooters can be reserved with a 50% deposit by contacting us at customerservice@volocars.com. ID is required on all rentals.

Q: Do I have to wear a mask?

A: We are following Illinois mandates and will update our policies as IL updates. Currently masks are not required for any guests.

Q: How long does it take to tour the museum?

A: There is so much to see and do at The Volo Auto Museum, there really is no set amount of time spent that will suit every visitor. We suggest planning the whole day if you are interested in a “deep dive” into all of our exhibits. However, you do not need much time at all to be inspired by our brand of history — a couple of well-placed hours are all it takes for a great visit. (If you are visiting the Antique Malls be sure to build in at least 2 hours to explore them)(Give yourself 45 minutes to eat and watch the animatronic show)
