Can I bring a backpack or diaper bag into the Gallery?
Yes. Backpacks must be carried over one shoulder for the protection of the works of art—nothing may be carried on your back. Alternatively, free checkrooms are located at each entrance. Please be prepared to present all carried items (purses, diaper bags, backpacks) for inspection upon arrival.
Are strollers and child carriers allowed?
Personal strollers are permitted in the galleries or may be left in the checkrooms available at each entrance. The Gallery also provides strollers free of charge at all entrances. The exhibition spaces and public facilities are all accessible by elevator. Child carriers are allowed in the galleries only if children are carried on the front of the body. Children may not be carried on the shoulders of another person or in a backpack-style child carrier.
Can I bring snacks for my children?
Food is not permitted in the museum’s galleries or program spaces. Visitors may only eat in the designated dining areas. We recommend the Cascade Café, located on the East Building Concourse, for snacks.
Can my family write or sketch at the Gallery?

How does the Art Investigators sign-in process work?
Registration for Art Investigators is first-come, first-served on the day of the program. As soon as the museum opens to the public, a line may be formed at the Art Investigators sign-in table. We suggest that you arrive at least one hour before the desired tour time. Sometimes families must wait an hour for their tour, so we recommend that you plan to be flexible with your schedule, consider eating at the Gallery, or bring some books to pass the time. Occasionally, due to popularity, we cannot accommodate everyone for a tour. Sundays are typically our busiest days.
How do I register for a Family Workshop?
Workshop registration takes place online. Please note the registration date for the desired program and plan to be online just before noon. At noon refresh your internet browser and the workshop registration form will appear. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the time your registration form is submitted. Workshops are extremely popular and fill up quickly, and unfortunately we cannot accommodate everyone who is interested. We recommend adding your name to the wait list, as spaces may become available later.
