I absolutely love the Cricut Mug Press! It is so fun. The Cricut Mug Press is so simple to use. No time, temperature, or adjustments needed. Now you can create DIY mugs in minutes. I’ve had so much fun making mugs this week for everyone I know! Since spring is on my mind I just had to make all the floral mugs! Today I want to show you a couple ways to layer Cricut Infusible Ink and Infusible Ink Markers/pens. You can use both products with the Cricut Mug Press. Keep reading to see the step my step tutorial.

HOW TO USE THE CRICUT MUG PRESS WITH TEACHER MUG PROJECT
SUPPLIES NEEDED–
Cricut Maker machine or Explore Air 2
Cricut Infusible Ink – Pink lemonade
Cricut Infusible Ink Pen- Black
Cricut EasyPress Mat or any hot pad
12×12 Cricut standard Grip Mat
12×12 Cricut Light Grip Mat
Lint roller
White laser copy paper

DRINK UP BUTTERCUP MUG-
Are you a plant mamma like me? I just love plants and flowers so this mug was perfect for me. In the Cricut design space file you will notice that you have 2 images to create this mug. This is a 2 step press design meaning you will have to press the mug 2 times. The first time you will press the background watercolor images and then you will press the pen drawn design on top of that. Cricut Has made creating mugs so easy using the Cricut Mug Press. I love that you don’t even have to think about time or temperature. Simply shut the lever and the Cricut Mug Press will do the rest. Let’s get to making this cute mug!
Here is a quick video to give you an idea of the process we will cover.
First open the Cricut design space file provided above. you can also get it HERE .
Hide the layers for the other 3 mug design we will just be focusing on this buttercup mug for now.
Apply you Cricut Infusible Ink to your 12×12 Cricut Standard Grip Mat, ink side up.
*MAKE SURE AND MIRROR THE IMAGE!!!
Cut the Infusible Ink out. Weed the negative and set aside.
Place a piece of laser copy paper ( why laser copy paper? because it can handle a higher temperature than normal paper.) onto a 12×12 Cricut light grip mat. place into machine. Place the black Infusible Ink pen into the A clamp and have your Cricut Machine draw the floral image and cut out the rectangle.
Pre- heat your Cricut Mug Press by pressing the power button. The Light will be red until it is hot and ready. It will then beep and turn green.
Prepare your mug. You will need to use a lint roller to remove and dust from around your mug. Now you are ready go.
Apply the first layer which will be the Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheet you cut out. Carefully line up the bottom edge of the design with the bottom of the mug. match the sticky tabs under that handle of the mug and smooth your design all the way around the mug to ensure it is adhered smooth and tight.
Place the mug carefully into the preheated Cricut Mug Press and press the lever down. This will close the door on the front of the machine. Carefully make sure your image is completely covered by the press. The lights on the top are a progress bar. They will flash and when it reaches the last one. it will beep when finished.
When the press is done it will beep. Lift the lever. This will release the mug. The handle will not be hot but the rest of the mug will be so carefully remove from the press and set onto the Cricut EasyPress mat or any other hot pad you have. Allow to cool for 15-20 minutes or until its cool enough to handle. Peel off the design. Now you are ready to add the second layer, the drawn design, onto your mug. Line up the edge of the paper with the edge on the pink link at the bottom of the mug. This will be your guide to line it up right.
Using the Heat resistant tape, tape the edges of the paper together under the mug handle.
When using the Cricut Infusible Ink Pens, you will need to place 3 sheets of butcher paper that have been trimmed to 3.75×9 This butcher paper is included in your Infusible ink package. Wrap them around the design as pictured below and using the heat resistant tape, tape the edges together under the handle.
Carefully place your prepared mug back into the Press. Close Lever. When the mug is done pressing, lift the lever and carefully place onto a hot pad and let cool. When the mug is cooled carefully remove the layers of butcher paper and the laser paper.
HOW COOL IS THAT???? I was blown away at the vibrancy of the colors and just how professional the finish product turned out. The Cricut Mug Press is an incredible design so sleek and easy to use. I Love the colors of it and it’s not to big to have sitting out. The Cricut Mug Press is a great investment to add to your craft tools. It will expand your gift giving possibilities especially for all those hard to buy for people! Now you can make them something custom and personal that will mean so much.

I have included a couple other floral designs and I did the layers different for each one. I will quickly do a little run through.
Keep Growing Mug-
This is a simple 1 step, cut the infusible ink, weed, apply to mug, and press. Simple and easy but packs a big punch. The fun gradient pattern of the Infusible Ink makes it so fun. This would be your easiest way to make a mug.
I used the Pink Lemonade Infusible ink for this design.
Grow where you are planted mug-
For this mug I tested something out. I had the Cricut Machine draw using the Cricut infusible Ink Pen, directly onto the green Infusible Ink transfer sheet. It worked!!! This would then make this a 1 step press. What i found was that the design did come out not as detailed as the drawing but i liked that. it was a little more bold. So, if you are wanting something quick and one press this is your go to. If you are wanting your image to be really detailed and fine you will want to do a double press and follow the steps like the buttercup mug above.
I used the Green Watercolor Infusible Ink for this one and a black Infusible Ink pen.
Multi floral mug–
For this mug I used to slice and set method. This is where you cut your design from different sheets and then place them together onto one sheet.
Then you press once and thats it. See the video below on how to do this method. Follow the steps above. Apply to mug, Press, let cool, and remove.
I used the splattered sheet in the Pink Lemonade Infusible Ink box and the Green Watercolor Infusible Ink
