Question about Anime Levi (possible spoilers) | Fandom (2024)

Well i guess my question got answered and he only found out last episode.

But i'm kinda confused that he asked Mikasa that she experiences a burst of power in her past...

1: How does he know Kenny experienced something like that? I don't feel like Kenny is a character that would share that with someone, also they never show/tell us that Kenny actually did experience that.

2: How did Levi not wonder about being related to Mikasa and Eren considering he is super powerful too and probably experiences a burst of power in his past aswell… How does he ask Mikasa about her burst of power and relation to Kenny but then doesn't wonder about his own burst of power?

I found these events very confusing and illogical.

For answers:

1) I believe Kenny must have told Levi. I think he says "he said" when referring to Kenny during his conversation with Mikasa, which means even if it seems odd, Kenny actually shared that information with Levi.

2) Levi likely did not consider he might be related to Mikasa for the same reason we never considered it before now. It's incredibly unlikely that a random person you meet is related to you. Sometimes it happens and they're your distant cousin! But usually they're not. Unless there's reason to think they could be (like the same family name), it's a safe be to assume that they're just another unrelated person.

The best athletes in the world aren't all related to each other. It's perfectly normal for unrelated people to reach a similar athletic peak, and if you watch any sports at all you've probably seen some godly performances that are far above what the average human can do. Sure, sometimes they're siblings, or parent/child with decades between performances, but most of the time they're done by unrelated athletes even if they're in the same sport.

Levi doesn't know anything about bloodlines or this Ackermann stuff prior to this particular story arc, so he has no reason to think that Mikasa is related to him.

I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that Levi also experienced that burst of power... (we assume this because he's so strong) So i found it pretty weird that doesn't make him think… "Mikasa and Kenny are Ackermann and both experiences a power burst like me... hmm…" It's not just about natural athletisism… it's about a specific moment where an Ackermann gets a burst of power. Which again Levi must have experienced also.

I find it odd he doesn't draw any conclusions like that.

Oh well. I wonder if Levi will ever tell Mikasa that they are related to eachother.

I get the OP's point. There's no real reason that Levi shouldn't know that his family name is Ackerman. Especially considering his shock at hearing Kenny's last name, the shock itself implies that Levi was aware of this last name being identical to his own.

Furthermore, Mikasa gets assigned to his personal squad. There's NO WAY he wouldn't be given the full names of all his newest squad members. Him remembering them all may be another thing, but he for sure had to be told them at least once. And even at that point, it should have struck a chord that Mikasa's last name was Ackerman. And this is before even factoring the whole "burst of power" portion of the argument into the equation.

Levi tells Kenny "My last name seems to be Ackermann, too," which suggests that it's something he heard rather than knew. He wouldn't use "seems" otherwise.

Also, when he first meets Kenny he says his name is "just Levi" and from Kenny's reaction we see he understands why Kuchel didn't give the Ackermann name to her son. These two lines together heavily suggest that Levi didn't know he was an Ackermann until the Interior MP mentioned Kenny's last name, and even then, only because he suspected that Kenny was his father.

It's less clear in the anime, but in the manga, you can see a mix of surprise and disappointment on his face at learning Kenny is actually his uncle.
