What is the texture of the sensory putties?
Our sensory putties have a butter slime texture, they are thick and holdable, perfect for stretching and squishing.
My putty is getting stiff, what can I do?
Overtime putty may become stiffer than you would like, to fix this you can add a squeeze of hand/body lotion or a few drops of glycerin, knead the lotion in really well and this will help soften the putty up and get it stretchy again. Our putties are air reactive, which means that if they are left out of the container then they will dry up, so always remember to put your putty away after play and screw the lid on tight!
Whatare the slime making kits?
Our Slime Making Kits and DIY Slimes are a fun way to get children interested in science. Slime is a polymer made up of very large chains of molecules. Chemical bonds are formed when you mix the PVA glue and a slime activator together. Activators (saline solution, borax or liquid starch) change the position of the molecules in the glue; this process is called cross-linking.
Not only are slime kits and slime play educational and fun for all the family they can also be incredibly beneficial for children by:
- Helping strengthen fine motor skills through creating and manipulating slime.
- Learning cause and effect through mixing different substances.
- Providing calming sensory play.
- Improving concentration and focus.
- Encouraging independent play.
Sensory play is vital in children’s development and playing with slime enables children to get in touch with all their senses, focusing on how it feels, sounds, looks, and smells. The sensory aspects of slime can also reduce stress and anxiety for adults.
What is slime made from?
Slime is made from PVA glue and activator, other ingredients include: lotion, fragrance oils, pigments, glitter, shaving foam, clay, instant snow and foaming soap. These slime ingredients give the slimes different sensory aspects of how they look, sound, smell and feel.
What ages are slime making kits suitable for?
We recommend that our slimes and slime making kit boxes are for children aged 6 and over. We do however have a special sensory slime box just for little hands, recommended for children aged 3 and over.
Do I need to supervise my children whilst playing with putty?
As with any activity for children we recommend that they are supervised at all times, some items may contain small parts and therefore present a choking hazard if swallowed.
