What Kind of Car Does Shaq Drive? | GetJerry.com (2024)

Shaquille O’Neal is known around the world for his once-in-a-lifetime talent on the basketball court, but his collection of over 30 cars—including a custom Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, and Lamborghini Gallardo—might just be the only thing that can rival his collection of basketball achievements.

As one of the most recognized players in the NBA, Shaq has carefully built an empire that includes music, movies, clothing lines, record labels, and real estate (did you know he owns 155 Five Guys restaurants?). Decades after starting his career in 1992 with the Orlando Magic, he has become one of the richest NBA players ever, with a purported net worth of over $400 million dollars.

With a nickname like “The Big Diesel,” you might not be surprised to learn that Shaq has a truly impressive car collection, housed at his properties in

California

,

Georgia

, and

Texas

. So what is he into? With 4 NBA championships, 3 Finals MVPs, 15 All-Star appearances, and 14 All-NBA Team invitations, Shaq appears to have a penchant for remarkable engines and eye-catching custom builds.

Ford Bronco II

Starting price: $10,874

Everyone has to start somewhere, and for Shaq, that somewhere was in a Ford Bronco II—the first new vehicle he ever purchased.

First introduced in 1984 as a slightly smaller version of the original

Ford Bronco

, and with a

Ford Ranger

as its base, the Bronco II was designed as Ford’s solution to the demand for a compact SUV.

The model wasn’t exactly a hit—it only lasted in production from 1984–1990. It was briefly popular among young drivers looking for a daily driver that would also give them an off-road option, and is credited for kicking off the craze for the compact SUV.

Getting the 7’1” star into the truck might cause some to worry, though. Part of the Bronco II’s rough reputation comes from its infamous instability. It was said to be so bad that Ford’s engineers even called off some test drives for the safety of Ford’s professional test drivers.

The less than stellar accident record eventually drove Ford to leave the Bronco II in the dust, but Shaq’s affinity for his might come more from the emotional attachment to his first truck than from the vehicle’s practicality.

Custom Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Starting price: $28,295

Engine: 285 horsepower Penstar V6

At over seven feet tall, Shaq has to consider if he can actually fit into the car before he can drive it. So for his next SUV purchase, Shaq turned to West Coast Customs.

The team started with the base of the

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

, which is about 20 inches longer than the standard Wrangler. The front seats were set further back, and the front and rear doors were replaced by one long door on each side, allowing Shaq plenty of legroom.

With a removable roof and doors and its reputation for off-roading, the Wrangler is built for adventure. But that isn’t the only feature the Wrangler boasts. The car also took second place in

iSeeCars’ most reliable SUVs list

, meaning that unlike some of its less impressive competition, the Wrangler offers fun and functionality.

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

Engine: 6.2 L HEMI V-8

For his 50th birthday, Shaq added yet another one-of-a-kind car to his collection: a custom red and black

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

, complete with Diesel Dog Mafia logo.

The Hellcat engine has long been renowned for its power, and this one certainly lives up to its reputation. At

717 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque

, the car can go from zero to 60 in 4 seconds.

While a bit bigger than your average sports car, the Charger SRT still promises a sleek ride, thanks to its Bilstein adaptive damping suspension system suspension. Often billed as the world’s fastest sedan, topping out at a speed of 204 mph, this ride is proof that Shaq is a fan of both speed and style.

2007 Lamborghini Gallardo

Starting price: $202,000

Engine: 5.0 L Lamborghini even firing V10

Picturing the famously-big Shaq next to a sporty and sleek Lamborghini Gallardo, you might wonder: how, exactly, could he possibly fit? Don’t you worry. While he still towers over the low-lying car in height, he can sit comfortably while driving it thanks to the work of Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters. They stretched the vehicle by about 12 inches by adding extended versions of the doors, roof, and side windows.

The model is Lamborghini's best selling of all time. With all the signature characteristics of the famous rides including razor-sharp edges and acute angles, the Gallardo looks almost more like a fighter jet than a car — appropriate, especially when you consider that the Gaffoglios previous work included Boeing planes.

In 2006, just a year before Shaq purchased his, Top Gear named the Lamborghini Gallardo the “Dream Car of the Year.” Able to go from zero to 60 in 3.8 seconds, and with 493 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque, it’s no wonder Shaq dreamed of it himself.

2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan

Starting price: $335,350

Engine: 6.7-liter V12

Named after the largest uncut diamond ever discovered, the Cullinan was introduced in 2018 as the brand’s first all-wheel-drive vehicle. Even with the twin-turbo V-12 engine giving the car 563 horsepower, and its eight-speed automatic transmission, it’s hard to picture anyone taking the luxury vehicle out for any off-roading adventures.

According to Car and Driver, the Cullinan can make it from zero to 60 in just 4.5 seconds. That’s even more impressive when you take into account the car's three-ton weight. The

Rolls-Royce

also boasts an air suspension that adjusts automatically to road hazards with the help of a road scanning camera.

Some have criticized the car for its bulky design, but the more spacious and stylish interior might just be a perfect fit for the basketball player's height. Either way, it stands out even in a collection full of one-of-a-kind rides. And this isn’t the first Rolls Royce “The Diesel” has ever purchased -- he’s previously owned a Rolls-Royce Phantom and even gifted one to Lebron James for his birthday in 2010!
