Julian Norton (born 3 June 1972) is a British veterinary surgeon, author and TV personality, best known for his appearances on thirteen series of The Yorkshire Vet, which has been broadcast on Channel 5 since 2015.
In March 2021 we opened Thirsk Veterinary Centre alongside Anne and Isabella and it has been great to re establish independent in Thirsk. I gained a GP certificate in small animal practice in 2007 and I'm currently studying towards an extra qualification in Ophthamology.
He is married to Anne, also a veterinary surgeon, and has two sons, Jack and Archie, a Jack Russell terrier called Emmy, and two guinea pigs called Sparkle and Shine.
In a statement announcing the merger with Medivet, Skeldale Veterinary Centre explained: “Julian will be leaving in order to pursue other interests, both in veterinary medicine and media, and he wishes Skeldale the best of success for the future.”
Julian Norton, Peter's former partner at Skeldale, has opened a practice back in Thirsk, which he runs with his wife, Anne. He is also a partner at Sandbeck Veterinary Centre in Wetherby.
The Yorkshire Vet is back on Channel 5 and a lot has changed since the previous season. Veterinary surgeon Julian Norton previously announced he would be leaving his old base to take on a new challenge. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about his new practice - Sandbeck - and where to find it.
Peter has specialised in treating sick or injured farm animals and when Skeldale decided to concentrate on smaller animals, he decided to go elsewhere so that he can continue working with larger breeds.
However, Julian felt it was the right time to go as the practice was merged with a national veterinarian organisation. He went on to open his own independent vet practice in Wetherby, Yorkshire.
Norton was born and brought up in the mining town of Castleford and went to school in Wakefield at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, before gaining a place to study veterinary medicine at Cambridge University.
Family. Peter lives in North Yorkshire with his wife Lin who he met at a work do in the 80s. They have now been married for more than three decades and share two grown-up children: criminologist Emily and electrician Andrew and a grandchild called Archie.
According to CelebPie, the veterinarian has a net worth of over a million dollars (over £725,000). However, it stated Peter Wright has not confirmed any information about his fortune. But how did the Yorkshire vet make so much money?
His former practice, Skeldale, is now part of a wider organisation that includes more than 300 practices across the UK. The vet now runs the Thirsk Veterinary Centre with his wife, Anne, who is also a vet. He said he was happy to be continuing the independent tradition, which he believed was the best way to practice.
The Yorkshire Vet is a long-running series following Vets undertaking their varied work treating animals across Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Vet follows the work of Julian Norton, Peter Wright and now our very own Matt Smith and David Melleney and Shona Searson and the rest of the team at the Donaldson's Hospital.
In 2021, Peter decided to leave Skeldale as it was no longer "economically viable". He now works part-time at Grace Lane Vets in Kirkbymoorside. While he was sad to leave, he doesn't miss being on call. Over the years, his wife Lin and their children endured plenty of festive disruption.
