Each screen measures 180 x 47 cm and depicts the splendor of twelve breathtaking locations.

The high price of Qi Baishi’s Twelve Landscape Screens wasn’t the only noteworthy aspect of its 2017 sale.

The sale cemented Qi’s reputation as the first Chinese artist to have a work of art sold at auction for $140.8 million.

Scholars believe Qi painted this series after traveling across China, and it perfectly demonstrates the artist’s skill as a landscape painter.
