A good rule of thumb is to wash your jeans after every 3-10 wears, or when they start to smell. If you're regularly active in your jeans (think: manual work, anything where you work up a sweat), wash them every 3 wears, but if you're working at a desk, you can probably go through multiple wears without washing.
How often you need to wash your bras isn't an exact science. But dermatologist Alok Vij, MD, says that as a general rule, you should wash them after every two to three wears.
Every time you wear them: tights, leggings, yoga pants, exercise clothing, T-shirts, socks undershirts/underpants and swimming suits. Every two days: hand towels and dish towels. Every three to four times you wear or use them: bath towels, bras, slips, dresses, sweaters, skirts, pajamas, slacks and jeans.
Wearing a T-shirt two days in a row can be fine, if you're changing up your top layer. Whether it's a button-down or knit cardigan, make sure the shirt you're doubling up on isn't taking center stage. If it's a graphic tee or bold striped shirt, for example, people are going to take note.
Jeans, for example, should be washed every three wears. Household linens, towels, and bedding should follow a standard timeline — sheets and pillowcases should be washed once a week, for example.
Is it OK to wear the same clothes for 2 days?
You should change your clothes daily. But if you don't have a large enough wardrobe, you can wear the same thing on multiple days. Also, just because you wear something doesn't mean it's dirty– if you haven't been sweating, you can hang it up to wear again.
The researchers found that a “sufficient” wardrobe consists of 74 garments and 20 outfits in total. As an example, they've suggested six outfits for work, three outfits for home wear, three outfits for sports, two outfits for festive occasions, plus four outdoor jackets and trousers or skirts.

Clothes made from a long fiber cotton, like Pima cotton, tend to be more durable but more expensive. A third option is to buy shirts that mix those short blend fibers with polyester to make them stronger. Look for linings, tencel and high-quality cotton.
The American Cleaning Institute, however, is a little more lenient with its suggestions, recommending that pajamas are washed after three or four wears. Good Housekeeping magazine says once a week is the longest you should go.
But how many pairs of jeans should you own? You should aim for 4 to 5 pairs of denim jeans, excluding shorts. It is a good number to meet your everyday needs, even though a woman own 7 pairs on average, and men 6. The number of jeans you should own is much lower than you think.
The one overarching rule: Go by the smell test. Mary Pierson, head of denim design atMadewell , advises at least three wears before a wash — but also advises for "washing jeans as little as possible."
Why do we even need to change our bedsheets? To cut to the chase, Dr Browning says we should be changing our sheets once a week, or every two weeks at the most. Hygiene is a big factor, and one of the reasons is sweat. If you've ever tried sleeping in a heatwave, you'll know how difficult it can be.
Should you wear a bra to bed?
There's nothing wrong with wearing a bra while you sleep if that's what you're comfortable with. Sleeping in a bra will not make a girl's breasts perkier or prevent them from getting saggy. And it will not stop breasts from growing or cause breast cancer.
A good rule of thumb is three everyday bras: Two in a neutral color or skin tone shade. At least one darker color, like Black, Espresso, or Olive, for outfit variety.

When you wear the same thing every day, you save time deciding what you're going to wear each morning. And you save significant energy over the course of the week. Just think about how much time goes into maintaining, and organizing, and taking care of your clothes. Laundry, for example.
That exact outfit is pretty memorable and probably shouldn't be repeated more than once every two weeks — but of course you can wear the blazer with a white blouse and black pants on day 3, and again on top of a sheath dress on day 7, and then wear your blazer/sweater/skirt combo again on day 11.
- Use natural laundry soap for washing natural fibers such as cotton and silk.
- Add a half-cup of baking soda to the wash cycle along with your normal detergent to get rid of odors and residues left in clothing.
- Add a cup of vinegar to your wash to remove any residue left by fabric softeners.
Many doctors say a daily shower is fine for most people. (More than that could start to cause skin problems.) But for many people, two to three times a week is enough and may be even better to maintain good health. It depends in part on your lifestyle.

This thought is so deeply ingrained in people's psyche that many households do not run the washing machine or wash clothes on Thursdays as the members fear that such actions will accumulate bad karma.
Should you wash socks separately?
We recommend washing your socks separately if you prefer to use warm or hot water for your clothing items. However, if you're washing socks with clothes that also require a cold cycle, laundering them together is fine!
"Denim is a thick fabric (unlike your average T-shirt) so you can get away with more wears between washes. We recommend washing after 10 or so wears—or whenever jeans smell stale or unpleasant.
Hygienically: As long as you want. In my experience, pants (especially jeans) are one of those things that don't really get dirty unless you spill something on them. If you don't sweat a ton and if you still shower regularly, they don't seem to smell either. Socially: Two days, max.

By sticking to a kind of uniform, they're avoiding a phenomenon known as decision fatigue, which describes the way choices become harder and harder as a day goes on and your finite store of energy gets depleted.
There's no magic number of clothing items that you should have in your closet, but a good rule of thumb is only to keep clothes that you love and actually wear. If you haven't worn something in the past season or for more than a year, chances are you're not going to wear it again, and it's time to get rid of it.

Most people should wash their sheets once per week. If you don't sleep on your mattress every day, you may be able to stretch this to once every two weeks or so. Some people should wash their sheets even more often than once a week.
