MoMA PS1 (pay what you wish)
MoMA PS1 is one of the oldest and largest nonprofit contemporary art institutions in the United States. An exhibition space rather than a collecting institution, MoMA PS1 devotes its energy and resources to displaying the most experimental art in the world.
We are now the only major museum in the world that relies exclusively on a pure pay-as-you-wish system or that does not receive the majority of its funding from the government.
MoMA is smaller in size and takes around three hours to explore fully. On the other hand, the Met Museum is much larger and can keep you engaged for more than five hours. If you are short on time but want the satisfaction of having visited a Museum in New York, we suggest you opt for MoMA.
Excellent Museum . A "Must visit" in every respect, but will take at least three visits to cover every aspect of the Museum. Very spacious, airy and well lit. Well organised,with superb exhibits catering for every taste in Art, Design and Sculpture, from Medieval armour to American contemporary Art.

I'm a member and the benefits are definitely worth it. There's a members entrance and cloakroom to the right of the main entrance which means you get in faster and you don't have to wait in long lines to get your things. The membership is tax deductible so it's like getting into the museum free all the time.
Do I have to pay the full price for admission? General admission prices are a suggested contribution; pay what you wish. Ticketed exhibitions require a separate ticket at a set price (includes general admission).

The Empire State Building observatory is open 365 days a year, 8 a.m.-2 a.m., with the last elevator going up at 1:15 a.m. Purchased tickets allow you to go up to either the 86th floor observation deck or the 102nd floor for an extra charge.
Since then, it's grown to become one of the most extravagant events to happen in America. Various prices have been listed for a Met Gala ticket, but according to the Evening Standard it cost $35,000 for a single ticket in 2019 and $200-300,000 for a table at the event.
The event raises money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's fashion department. It is organized by Vogue Magazine and is by invitation only. According to Vogue, editor-in-chief Anna Wintour approves each of the more than 500 invitees. Tickets are $35,000 each.
Under the new policy, visitors from nearby New Jersey or Connecticut — unless they're 12 years old or younger, or have a student ID — must pay the full $25 admission price, while someone from Buffalo, seven hours from Manhattan, could pay as little as $1.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
In fact, if you only go to one museum ever, make it the Met. Even if you're not fussed about artistic nuance or the technical genius on display, you can't help but be impressed -- there are more than 2 million objects covering 5,000 years of world history.
Both institutions are world-class museums that any art or culture lover should definitely visit at least once in their lives, but they have important differences, too. The Met is larger by far, with more gallery space and larger collections.
Why is MoMA famous?
Originally conceived by its founders as a place for modern art to come and go (since what makes up modernism is constantly changing), MoMA only established a permanent collection in 1952, but it has become the home for some of the greatest works of avant-garde painting, sculpture, film, and multi-media art in the world ...
In conclusion, a trip to New York City is not complete without a visit to one of the city's many different state-of-the-art museums. MoMA PS1 is a fantastic way to learn about New York City's thriving and progressive art world, and it would make a great compliment to other more mainstream New York tourist attractions.
The Museum
Located in a century-old Romanesque Revival schoolhouse, MoMA PS1 showcases work by contemporary artists. Unlike Manhattan's MoMA, which collects famous modern art pieces, MoMA PS1 focuses on new and innovative ideas by artists.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum are both recommended by expert reviewers. On balance, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum ranks slightly better than The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The museum offers free "early bird" admission before 11 am on the second weekend of every month. Brooklyn Museum: On the first Saturday of every month, the Brooklyn Museum boasts a free night of culture from 5 pm to 11 pm, with live music, dance, movie screenings, arts & crafts, guided tours, and more.

CUNY Faculty, Staff, and Students Enjoy Free Admission
As part of MoMA and CUNY's partnership, faculty, staff, and students across all 25 campuses receive free admission from October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2022. Together we aim to make MoMA more accessible to CUNY's diverse campus communities.
All groups visiting the museum must make a reservation in advance. Groups are charged a fee of $6.00 USD per person. For Access Groups and Seniors the rate is $3.00 per person. All group visits will be self guided.

So, can anyone who can afford a ticket go? Unfortunately not. Unlike other charity events, the Met Gala is invitation only and there is a waiting list to get a ticket. According to The New York Times, invitations are typically based on a person's status.
Is the Met free for military?
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a Blue Star Museum, which means all members of the military are granted free admission for themselves and up to 5 family members from the middle of May to Labor Day. All you have to do is present a valid military ID to receive free admission.
After 10 months of renovation, the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building finally opened in October 2019. One thing is for sure, the Empire State Building's 102nd-floor observatory view just got even better. It's definitely one of the best observation decks in New York.
To make it to our 102nd floor observatory, you'd have to climb 1,872 steps. That's serious work! Thankfully, the Empire State Building houses a whopping 73 Otis elevators, so you'll be able to get to the top and enjoy the views without breaking a sweat.
