Short Answer: Answers require only a few words. Paragraph: Answers required for this question type are long-form answers. Mostly one or more paragraphs.
Typically, a shorter response will be one to two paragraphs and often your assignment or exam will give you a specific word limit. A key difference between an essay and a shorter response is length; this means you must be very concise and focused.
Notes: 200,000 characters is the maximum allowed for total responses per form. For example, if a form contains five text questions, and the respondent has already reached the 200,000- character limit by the fourth question, they won't be able to provide a response for the fifth question.
Under Options, select the Limit text box to check box, and then specify the number of characters that you want. To make the user's cursor advance automatically to the next control on the form after he or she reaches the character limit, select the Move to next control automatically when limit is reached check box.
Click a form field to edit it and add a question. Use the dropdown box next to the field to choose the field type, such as multiple choice, checkboxes, short answer, and so on.
In the drop-down menu next to each question, you'll see a list of question types that you can add to your forms such as multiple choice, short answer, or paragraph.
Short answers are brief but complete—they can answer "yes or no" questions or more complicated queries. Conventionally, the verb in a short answer is in the same tense as the verb in the question asked. Also, the verb in the short answer should agree in person and number with its subject.
Short Answer Questions do not have a generic structure. Questions may require answers such as complete the sentence, supply the missing word, short descriptive or qualitative answers, diagrams with explanations etc. The answer is usually short, from one word to a few lines. Often students may answer in bullet form.
How many words should short answer responses be?
In general, short answer questions fit into two categories: those asking for more than a 100 word response; and those asking for fewer than 100 words. These questions, which are seen less often, are attempts to get to know you by asking about your favorite things or about your personality.
