Here's the rub: The museum provided a fictionalized setting for the movie, but apart from an exterior shot of the museum's facade and entrance, and an image of the sun rising over Central Park shot through an unspecified museum window, the movie was filmed on soundstages in and around Vancouver.

Ahkmenrah wasn't an actual pharaoh in Egyptian History. It is confirmed that the basis of Ahkmenrah was taken from King Tutankhamun, the Boy King, another teenaged pharaoh who ruled and died young.
Owen Wilson's role as a miniature cowboy from the Old West exhibit in Night at the Museum was only supposed to be a cameo. It eventually got expanded into a supporting role alongside a credited Steve Coogan's miniature Roman centurion, but Wilson remained uncredited.
