What museums are closed on Mondays in Paris?
While planning your sightseeing in Paris, keep in mind that many museums are closed on Mondays or Tuesdays. Versailles, the Musée d'Orsay, Musée Carnavalet and the Musée Rodin, to mention just a few are closed on Mondays. While the Louvre, Musée de l'Orangerie, Pompidou Centre and others are closed on Tuesdays.

Just some museums are closed on Mondays, including Versailles, the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée Carnavalet, and the Louvre. While the Louvre, the Museum de l'Orangerie, the Pompidou Centre, and others remain open on Tuesdays.
There are no roving markets on Mondays, but stores are open. (Many stores are closed on Sunday, but then there are markets!) The Seine cruises, Tour Montparnasse, various local tours (Paris Vision, Cityrama... ) and other fun types of things are open daily. More is open than closed on Mondays.
From May 31, 2020, the cathedral's parvis is accessible to the public, a first step towards the full reopening of Notre-Dame. The archaeological crypt is once again open to visitors. However, the cathedral's towers and treasures will be closed to the public until further notice.
Hours & admission
The museum is open daily except Tuesdays. Last entry 1 hour before closure. Visitors will be asked to vacate the exhibition rooms 30 minutes before closure.
The reason lies in France's enshrined labour code, the Code du Travail, which was first published in 1910. The Code du Travail used to say that it was illegal for anyone to work more that six days a week and that workers should have 35 consecutive hours of rest.
Usual closing days are Monday or Tuesday, with a few exceptions mentioned in our information pages. Some are even open 7 days a week, such as some of the major monuments which can even be visited as late as 11pm or midnight.
It is possible for the shops located on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and other tourist areas to also open on Sundays. Opening hours on Sunday are from 11 am to 7 pm approximately.

How long will the Eiffel Tower be closed?
As is the case each year, renovation and maintenance work is being done on the top floor of the Eiffel Tower, resulting in its temporary closure to the public from January 3rd to February 4th, 2022. This is required in order to maintain this symbolic monument of Paris!
