Why did Victory stop making motorcycles?
On 9 January 2017, parent company Polaris Industries issued a press release announcing that they would immediately begin winding down operations of Victory Motorcycles due to struggles in establishing market share and limited profitability. The brand itself would also be discontinued.
When the Victory story came to an end in 2017, the brand left behind a legacy. Or rather, the departure of Victory left a hole in the market that still hasn't been filled. While many riders may state that the market is already saturated with American-style cruisers, Victory offered something different.
Polaris announced that they were ceasing the production of Victory motorcycles and that they would still manufacture spare parts until 2027. Polaris committed to assisting dealerships in liquidating their inventories when they decided to put all bets on Indian.

In announcing the winding down of Victory, Polaris said that the brand struggled to establish the market share needed to be profitable, with competitive pressures increasing headwinds for the brand.
While Harley Davidson is indeed the quintessential “all-American motorcycle company”, America has produced a number of important, notable, and otherwise influential motorcycle manufacturers. Indian comes to mind, but they are not the only ones.
Polaris' brand was called Victory Motorcycles and the first model, the V92C, went on sale in 1998. Assembled entirely in the United States from mainly American parts, the Victory enjoyed much more modern engineering than the Harleys of the time.
Victory was owned by Polaris, which incidentally also owns Indian. That explains why there are some similarities between the two brands. Indian motorcycles has been around a long time, producing some time-honored machines like the Indian Scout and the Indian Chief. Some of their bikes, we'd ride over a Harley any day.
The promising idea of creating a one hundred percent American bike came to the head of the Polaris company in the mid-nineties. With this noble goal in mind, Polaris has created a special division, Victory Motorcycles, which produces modern motorcycles under the brand of the same name.

Is Victory Indian now?
In 2011 Polaris Industries (the parent company of Victory motorcycle) purchased the rights to Indian Motorcycle® and so it was, the beginning of the end for Victory. The dealers who sold Victory Motorcycles were the hardest hit by the news.
Victory Vegas (2003 – 2017) verdict
The Vegas isn't a cheap bike to buy but it is a unique machine that you won't see parked up at many bike meets. Reliability isn't an issue and aside from a few bits of corrosion, generally they aren't to be feared in the used market.

Powered by Victory's 106-cubic-inch, sohc, 50-degree V-Twin with 6-speed gearbox, this 106/6 is also graced with Stage 2 cams, and is likely the same engine design the Hammer, Hammer S and Vegas Jackpot models run with. Victory says this engine platform is good for 97 hp and 113 ft-lbs.

Textron, Inc. purchases Polaris; keeps manufacturing operations in Roseau, MN.
Polaris will continue to supply parts to support Victory motorcycles for 10 years, and the company “will assist dealers in liquidating existing inventories.”

The first 'motorcycles' were bicycles, with motors attached: motor-cycles. Bike, of course, is a shortened form of 'bicycle'. Therefore, Americans DO call a motorbike a 'motorbike'.

Unfortunately, Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company ceased operations and discontinued production of all models in 1953.
Victory Motorcycles and Indian Motorcycles are part of same parent company- Polaris. Polaris had earlier introduced Indian Motorcycles before Victory Motorcycles in order to tackle the obvious competition from the home company.
Harley-Davidson Motor Company was founded in 1903, and specializes in heavyweight (601cc+) cruiser and touring motorcycles. Harley-Davidson's major competitors are Triumph, Yamaha, Ducati, and Royal Enfield brands.
Indian Motorcycle (or Indian) is an American brand of motorcycles owned and produced by American automotive manufacturer Polaris Inc. Independent operations ended in 1953; resumed operations in 1999 in Gilroy, CA. Purchased by Polaris Industries in 2011.
An offshoot of Polaris Industries, manufacturers of snowmobiles and ATVs, Victory was launched in the late 1990s to serve the booming cruiser marketplace. It now toils in the shadow of the mighty Harley-Davidson, but its products in some ways surpass the Motor Company with their high style and competitive prices.
Owned by Polaris, the Victory Motorcycles brand was discontinued in 2017. Indian Motorcycle was acquired by Polaris in 2011. But whether it be a classic like the Indian Scout or a touring beast like the Victory Cross Country Tour, both companies have excited us with their models.
As with all the big-inch Victory motorcycles, the X-1 is powered by the well-regarded air-/oil-cooled Freedom 106 powerplant. The MSRP of the 2017 Victory Magnum X-1 is $24,499.

Triumph has six-world class factories around the world. Two of these factories are based in Hinckley in the UK, just a stone's throw from the Mallory Park race track. There are also three factories in Chonburi, Thailand, and one in Manaus, Brazil.

The Indian Scout is one of the most reliable American cruisers on the motorcycle market. These bikes are well-built, high-quality machines and owners typically experience few problems providing they don't ride too aggressively and stay on top of maintenance and routine oil changes.
In 1981, 13 Harley execs bought their company back from AMF. And in 2011, Polaris Industries bought Indian.

Victorys were big and bold motorcycles. Victory managed reasonable sales but in 2011 the parent company purchased the rights to the Indian Motorcycle name.
