Does Big 5 sell adventure passes? ›

You can purchase a National Forest Adventure Pass, Day ($5, Pink in color) or Annual ($30, color depends on year), at most major L.A. area sporting good stores like REI and Big 5.

The Adventure Pass is not a national pass like the America the Beautiful Interagency Passes. It is a local regional pass, required only on the four forests listed above. America the Beautiful Interagency Passes are also accepted at all locations where the Adventure Pass is required.

The Annual Adventure Pass is valid for 12 months from the month of purchase.

Who will need to purchase a National Forest Adventure Pass? This is a pass to use at designated sites and areas of the Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres and San Bernardino National Forests. Visitors to these four forests will be required to display the Pass in their vehicles when using the Forest for recreation purpose.

Parking: If you plan to park at designated areas within the San Bernardino National Forest, an Adventure Pass is usually required. This includes parking near trailheads and popular destinations. Hiking and Backpacking: Many beautiful hiking trails wind through the forest surrounding Big Bear Lake.

Some areas and facilities do require the Adventure Pass or other fees to help maintain, manage and improve the amenities that you enjoy.

Does a Pass cover all fees? A. A Pass is only valid for entrance and standard amenity fees (day use). Camping, tour, and fees for other services are not covered; however Senior and Access Pass holders may receive a discount.

Passes are NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-TRANSFERABLE, and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. May provide a 50 percent discount on some amenity fees charged for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch, and specialized interpretive services.

California State Library Parks Pass: You can check out a free vehicle day-use pass at your local library with your library card and visit over 200 participating state parks.

America the Beautiful Passes are valid in Red Rock Country in lieu of the Red Rock Pass. Pick up your free hang-tag to display your pass at any of the Forest Service Gateway Visitor Centers or at the Red Rock Ranger District.

The Golden Access Passport is a free lifetime entrance permit to those parks, monuments, and recreation areas administered by the federal government which charge entrance fees.

A National Forest Adventure Pass is required for vehicles parked in a non-fee area while visitors are participating in recreation activities (camping in non-fee campgrounds, picnicking, hiking, fishing, etc.).

Passes are available on the weekends at the Clear Creek Information Center just . 4 mile to the west of the Switzer Picnic Area entrance on the Angeles Crest Highway. The center is closed on weekdays, so you will have to purchase a pass prior to making the drive all the way to the picnic area.
