There is a relaxed attitude in Lviv towards drinking beer in the streets. In Lviv it is not uncommon to see people peacefully sipping beer from bottles and cans on park benches and in shady Lviv squares and streets on a hot summer day. Lviv municipal police would usually close their eyes to street beer drinking as long as no trouble is done to public order, even though by Ukrainian law drinking alcoholic beverages in public places outside cafes and restaurants licensed to sell alcohol is considered to be an administrative offense and involves a fine. The legal drinking age in Ukraine is 18.
