Meet Popular Nickelodeon Characters Dora the Explorer and Her Cousin Diego at Tweetsie Railroad June 22-24 (2024)
June 21, 2012. Hola, amigos y amigas! Meet the popular stars of Nickelodeon’s hit animated preschool series, Dora the Explorer™ and Go, Diego, Go!™, at Tweetsie Railroad during a family fun-filled three-day weekend June 22-24. Dora the Explorer and her cousin Diego will meet, greet and pose for pictures with fellow adventurers from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the weekend.
Dora is a 7-year-old Latina heroine, whose adventures take place in an imaginative, tropical world filled with jungles, beaches and rainforests. Diego Marquez, Dora’s cousin, is an 8-year-old action-adventure hero who loves nature and animals. Dora and Diego explore their world just as preschoolers do everyday and their television shows actively engage audiences using a variety of learning techniques.
Tweetsie Railroad offers these special events and guest appearances in addition to the daily features of Wild West family fun. Hop aboard the famed steam-powered Tweetsie locomotive for an unforgettable three-mile adventure through the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Visitors can also spend the day walking the streets of a Western town, experience the long-ago era of cowboys and Indians, take a spin on a variety of rides, visit the animals at the Deer Park Zoo, be a part of the toe-tappin’ live entertainment and shows and take a scenic chair lift ride to Miner’s Mountain and pan for gold.
Tweetsie Railroad is open seven days a week through August 19. The park returns to the weekend schedule (open Fridays, Saturday and Sundays) from August 24 through October 28, including Labor Day Monday. The 2012 season ends Sunday, October 28. The park’s regular hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., but will be open until 9 p.m. on July 4 and July 7, 14, 21 and 28 for Cool Summer Nights. In addition, the park will be open at 8 a.m. both Saturdays (June 2 and 9) for the popular Day Out With Thomas™ event.
The Ghost Train® Halloween Festival will take place Friday and Saturday nights September 28 through October 27 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and price of admission is $28 for adults and children, with children 2 and under admitted free. Daily admission to Tweetsie Railroad is $35 for adults and $22 for children ages 3 through 12. Children 2 and under are admitted free. Alicia Márquez is a main character and the deuteragonist of Go, Diego, Go!. She did appear in Dora the Explorer, though she mostly appears in every episode of Go, Diego, Go!. Alicia is Diego's older sister, however, not his oldest, as Alicia and Diego have an older sister named Daisy, making Alicia the middle child.
