What material is reflective fabric made of? ›

Material of Reflective Fabric

Reflective tape is composed of lens glass beads with different backing fabric, the most common materials are polyester, T/C, spandex. For fashion garments, we also supply reflective heat transfer vinyl, rainbow reflective fabric, and reflective printing fabric.

Reflective fabric can protect you from different elements, such as heat, rain, and cold. The advantage of using this type of fabric is that it doesn't need multiple layers to stay protected.

There are two main materials used in the making of hi-vis clothing – micro-prismatic tape and glass bead reflective tape. Micro-prismatic tape is made of a special type of plastic vinyl that contains a large number of small prisms.

The retroreflective material is made by using high refractive index glass beads to concentrate the incident light in a narrow light cone angle, and silver plated or coated aluminum as the retroreflector to make the light return to the light source.

The high visibility clothing is made up of fluorescent material and reflective tape that appears to glow when a light source hits it. This process is known as retro reflection, as the special silvered inks on the clothing reflect the light back to its source.

Clothing made from this high-visibility reflective fabric ensures that wearers can be easily spotted by nighttime drivers, even from a distance or in conditions with glare or scattered light. Additionally, high-quality reflective fabric possesses durability against aging, abrasion resistance, and washability.

Silver reflective fabric is definitely the most economical and highly recognizable reflective fabric in the market. We have diverse backing cloth to choose from, such as polyester taffeta, nylon, chiffon, spandex or other knitted fabrics etc. custom or appointed backing cloth is also workable.

Reflective fabric temperature should not exceed 90°C at any time during drying. Use of a lower pH and active alkalinity will increase the lifetime of the reflective fabric. Actual lifetime will be dependent upon the detergent system and its dosage level. ≤ 600 mg/l Maximum Wash temperature should not exceed 60°C.
