Whilst this might sound like a trivial question, a lot of clients ask us the question.Indeed, property advertisem*nts, with their rental price indicated per week, make things slightly confusing.

So should rent be paid on a weekly or monthly basis?

The answer is very straightforward.

Rent is payable each month, on the anniversary date of the tenancy agreement.

For example, if your tenancy agreement started on the 20th of the month, your rent will be due on the 20th of each following month. No apportionment is necessary, as might be the case in other countries.

This, of course, doesn’t apply if you have negotiated a payment in advance of your rent.
