Do you have to pay for SF Botanical Garden?
The Botanical Gardens are FREE for all visitors each morning between 7:30 am to 9 am. Admission is also free on the second Tuesday of each month, and on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
The San Francisco Botanical Garden offers free admission for veterans, children under 4 and San Francisco city and county residents who have an ID with proof of address. Children ages 5–11 are $3; seniors and youth ages 12–17 are $7; adults are $13; and a family pass is $27.
The most beautiful park in San Francisco! I couldn't believe I had not been there in my 15ish visits. Started there early to get a good walk in before museums to be surprised that it is free from 7:30 to 9 am. The grounds were well maintained and a great assortment of different areas.
You should allocate at least 2 hours even for a quick walk in the garden.

San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum opened in 1940 and is a 55-acre living museum within Golden Gate Park, showcasing 8,000 different kinds of plants from around the world.
Is Golden Gate Park free? The park and many of the attractions are completely free to the public. However, certain attractions, such as the Japanese Garden, de Young Museum, Conservatory of Flowers, and the California Academy of Sciences, do have a fee, so be sure to plan accordingly.

Visiting the U.S. Botanic Garden and observing all of its wondrous features is free for the entire family. Its Conservatory and National Garden are open every day of the year from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., with the National Garden staying open until 7 p.m. from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
The Botanical Garden opened officially in 1940, designed around a central axis that still exists between the central fountain and the Zellerbach Garden.

Tickets are not required. Bartholdi Fountain and Gardens are open from dawn to dusk daily. They are located across Independence Avenue from the Conservatory, with access from any of the three bordering streets: Independence Avenue, Washington Avenue, or First Street SW.
Your attire should be comfortable and appropriate for the season – many botanical gardens are open year-round. Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes for walking or hiking. Expect that your shoes will get dusty or dirty. Bring a sun hat or visor to protect your face from the sun.
Does Botanical Gardens allow picnics?
Informal picnics are allowed in the Gardens.
DURING YOUR VISIT
Yes, guests may bring their own food and beverages into the Zoo. No glass containers or alcohol are allowed in. Socially distanced table seating is located around the Lemur Café, with no indoor seating.
Admission to the Gardens is free to San Francisco residents, veterans, Museums For All participants, and Gardens members. Proof of San Francisco residency: A California driver license or ID showing your San Francisco address is best for proof of residency.
