Is the Van Gogh VIP package worth it?
There was no line for any of it and often times there were few enough people that you really could see yourself in the works. HOWEVER, although the VIP package is “worth it” monetarily and theoretically, it most certainly is NOT worth more for the average person.
Speaking of entry, tickets to Immersive van Gogh sell for $40–$100 depending on time of entry, day of the week and VIP level. The most expensive ticket lets you jump lines and gets you a poster, something called a “VIP souvenir laminate” and “a brand new van Gogh cushion (to keep instead of rent).”
Review of Original Immersive Van Gogh. Immersive Van Gogh is certainly a new way of encountering art. It's an enthralling mix of Post-Impressionist fireworks and escapism. You're so overwhelmed by technology, it's almost dizzying.
Expect to spend at least an hour at the exhibit, and if you're not the fastest reader, it'll probably end up being closer to a 75-minute trip. With that said, there's a lot of knowledge to soak up at Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, so take your time.
Any item deemed by exhibit security or venue management to be inappropriate. Bikes, helmets, skateboards, Heelys, rollerblades, and non-mobility aid scooters are not permitted. Camping chairs. Tripods.
The room is really dark for the art to be projected and viewed, so for that reason, I suggest you wear flats. Just so you have an easier time walking around in the dark, or standing for an hour.
Includes: admission, limited edition poster, Van Gogh cushion(rental). Ticket allows for a larger window to attend (2 hours before or after your scheduled time) and allows you two opportunities to reschedule your tickets without incurring the $9.99-per-ticket rescheduling fee.
Immersive Exhibitions
These immersive exhibits are unique as they use cutting-edge projection technology and access digital versions of Van Gogh's artworks. Van Gogh's paintings were digitally scanned in high-res and then projected onto the walls and floor to create this new way of presenting art.
Winner: "Immersive Van Gogh" is the undisputed champion. While venturing out to Brittmoore Road can be a bit of a trek for those who don't live on the northwest side, “Immersive Van Gogh” is a destination campus. There's an outdoor, onsite bar at the main entrance. Drinks and food are allowed inside.
—”Immersive Van Gogh” stands above “Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience.” The animations are crisper, the environment grander and more spacious, the choreography of images somewhat less cheesy, the musical choices more interesting (Handel, Edith Piaf, and Thom Yorke versus a more generically cinematic sounding score).
What's the difference between immersive Van Gogh and beyond Van Gogh?
Immersive Van Gogh uses 100 projectors to cover more than 500,000 cubic feet, features experimental electronic music, and offers visitors an hourlong experience. Beyond Van Gogh, meanwhile, is the brainchild of Mathieu St-Arnaud and Montreal's Normal Studio.
How much time do I need to see the experience? Individual visit times will vary, but most visitors can anticipate spending 60 – 90 minutes. The main feature of the exhibition lasts approximately 45 minutes.
Can we take pictures/video inside the exhibition? - Van Gogh - The Immersive Experience. Yes, pictures and videos are allowed, and even encouraged to share via social media.
Photography (without a flash or tripod) is only permitted at certain designated areas in the museum, such as in the Entrance Hall and by the so-called 'selfie walls'. To avoid causing nuisance to other visitors, photography of artworks in the museum galleries and exhibition spaces is not permitted.
