Who is eligible for NS55 credit?
To thank past and present national servicemen for their contributions to Singapore's defence and security, MINDEF and MHA will be giving out an NS55 Recognition Package (RP) to over a million eligible national servicemen, across the ages of 17 to 75 years old from July 2022 onwards.
From July 2022 onwards, eligible national servicemen will receive S$100 worth of NS55 credits* on the LifeSG app. These credits can be used at merchants that accept scan and pay via PayNow UEN or NETS QR. *NS55 credits are part of the NS55 Recognition Package to commemorate 55 years of national service in Singapore.
If you're looking for your NS55 Recognition Package credits, check back from July 2022 onwards. If you believe you're eligible for the NS Celebratory Gifts , NS Excellence Award , or NS HOME Awards but do not see the credits on your app, contact the NS Call Centre at 1800 367 6767 or email contact@ns.sg.
National servicemen may contact the NS55 Call Centre to request for hardcopy vouchers. Eligible national servicemen will receive a notification letter from MINDEF or MHA at their registered address from mid-June 2022.
For Singaporean dudes who served NS: Remember to use your $100 NS55 credits via the LifeSG App before they expire. From what I've seen most of them expire in July 2023. You can utilize the credits anywhere that accepts a paynow/NETS QR code.
- In your LifeSG mobile application, scroll to “Benefits and Support”
- Locate “NS55 credits” and tap on “View Details”
- Tap on “Scan QR code to pay” and scan the QR code provided by the merchant.
- After entering the amount to pay, that's it!
When prompted, you will need to enter your bank's SWIFT/BIC numbers which can be found here. Go back to the “Transfer tab”; you should see the bank account that you added. From there, just transfer your $100 into your bank account and voila! You have successfully encashed your $100 worth of NS55 credits!
It was observed on July 7 that the Sheng Siong Simple Teller Machine ($TM) -- the supermarket chain's very own ATM -- was able to cash out S$90 out of S$100 of the NS55 Recognition Package credits, while incurring a S$0.20 convenience service fee.
14. Where can we spend our cash credits? You may spend the cash credits at any online/physical merchant accepting payment by “Scan and Pay” via PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR. These merchants also include various e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada.
The next step is to press the PayNow icon on the screen and select S$90 to cash out. The last step is to open the LifeSG app, which eligible past and present national servicemen (NSmen) who want to use the NS55 credits must download, to scan the QR code on the $TM screen. And the cash will be disbursed.
