Who is more intelligent, Armin or Erwin? ›

Armin Arlelt is the most quintessentially intelligent character in the series. He is curious and book smart along with being a brilliant tactician.

While Erwin had no plans, no hope and no vision for the future, Armin was brimming with potential and still had hope for a brighter future. This direct comparison between the dream that weighed Erwin down, and Armin's hopes that never corrupted or controlled him, was a large deciding factor for Levi's choice.

Erwin was not the best soldier, but he was smarter than anyone else around him. Erwin's intelligence allowed him to convince people rather easily. It was because of his ability to manipulate people that his troops marched towards certain death just to give Levi a chance to take down the Beast Titan.

1 Armin Is A Certifiable Genius

Kars was responsible for the creation of the stone mask that could turn regular humans into vampires. He created the mask in an attempt to become the perfect living being. Once he managed to accomplish his goal, Kars gained an insane 400 IQ. In contrast, human beings rarely go much higher than 115 when taking IQ tests.

Armin is of the luckiest characters in Attack On Titan, and it's all because of his friends, who would do anything to protect him. Eren risks his own life, so his best friend won't get eaten, and his friends make a tough choice when they decide to save his life over Erwins.

With Erwin being brilliant and a great leader, he and Levi made a great team. However, Levi would unquestionably win if the two of them were to fight each other. A fight between Levi and Erwin almost happened in a prequel series, Attack on Titan: No Regrets, where Levi joined the Survey Corps to kill the commander.

Although he is looked up to by many, and he does not hesitate to give orders when necessary, Levi does not see himself as a leader in the same way Erwin is. He does not seem to have much use for hierarchy in general, and he leaves decisions up to his subordinates as often as he can.

Erwin Smith was one of the most beloved characters in Attack on Titan. He was the Survey Corps' commander throughout most of the series and was a great leader. He led his followers to many victories that they never would have been able to achieve without him and he would do anything to accomplish his goals.

If Erwin was still alive, he likely would have shared Armin's sentiment and fear that the Rumbling was a step too far. Erwin would have foreseen that the risks of using this operation ultimately outweighed any possible gains it could make.

Armin is one of the few kind and pacifistic characters in Attack on Titan. As a child, he won't even attempt to lay a hand on the local bullies, even as they mercilessly attack him. As the series progresses, though, Armin doesn't have a choice but to accept some of the Attack on Titan universe's harsh realities.
