Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is finally making his debut in the DC extended universe (DCEU) as Black Adam.
The character may well shake up the DCEU for good, particularly because of the powers that the anti-hero has. Here is everything you need to know.

Black Adam, who also goes by Teth-Adam, is an immortal being who made it his mission to protect his home of Kahndaq, 5,000 years before the main events of the movie.
The character is reawakened in the present day to find that the Middle Eastern city is now under mercenary rule, and so he essentially picks up where he left off.
From the get-go, it's clear that Black Adam is not to be trifled with, and his powers are so impressive that he even comes to the attention of Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) who sends the Justice Society of America (JSA) to stop him.
In the DC comics, Black Adam has powers attributable to various Egyptian gods, so he has the stamina of Shu, the swiftness of Horus, the strength of Amon, the wisdom of Zehuti, the power of Aten and the courage of Mehen.
In short, this means that he is super-strong, super-fast, super-powerful, has superhuman endurance and is also capable of self-sustenance, which essentially makes him immortal.
But that's not all as the anti-hero can also fly, use magic, has superhuman knowledge, clairvoyance. He can hypnotize people, is telepathic, and he's invulnerable to most attacks.
In the comics, Black Adam's powers are first bestowed upon him by Shazam, the wizard who gave Billy Batson his powers in Shazam! In the film, the anti-hero is given his powers by ancient gods.
With powers like these it's no wonder Johnson has made it clear that he is interested in Black Adam going up against Henry Cavill's Superman.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, Johnson said that he "absolutely" wanted to see Black Adam fight Superman, adding: "That is the whole point of this man."
He went on: "I have been saying for some time, there's a new era in the DC Universe that's about to begin. And what I meant by that was introducing a brand new character. It's not a sequel, not an existing IP. It was...you know, Black Adam!
"Two years ago the world had no idea who he was. We did, but not, you know, the rest of the mass out there. Introducing the JSA, introducing that new era of the DC universe. But also what I really meant by, 'This is a new era in the DC Universe,' is listening to the fans. Listening to the fans. And doing our best to give the fans what they want.
"And maybe, sometime down the road—and I went through this in pro wrestling—is you can't always give them what you want. But you'll always know that we're listening. And in this case, with what you and I are talking about, I have been listening and I've been wanting to address fans for years. Because I've been waiting for someone to step up and address the fans and say, 'Hey, we hear you.'"
Black Adam is out in theaters now.
